by Jade Hill (1786-1881)
DRAGON
Brushed by Gyokko of Hoen[-ji].

Virtuous monks were often asked to brush talismanic dragons such as this to protect a family from fires, floods, and other disasters, whether natural and man-made. This is one such good luck dragon, huge, bold, and powerful.
